Student Voice
My form tutor's positive
attitude sets me up
for the day.
I love the food! We get to have hot pork sandwiches on a Thursday.
You get to wear your own clothes and be yourself. I would rather be here than my old school.
I love how the teachers build relationships with us and support us.

How Impact Students Feel About Pastoral Sessions...

The sessions really help me because when i was going through things at home i could always talk to the staff and they would help me and make sure I am okay. It is important because it is the one place a person can go to and feel comfortable telling their worries and problems and get the help they need. It's a place everyone can feel safe and open enough to talk, it's hard for people to speak about their emotions and things that are going on in their life. All of the mentors are people you can speak to as they understand

The sessions have really helped with my behaviour, if it wasn't for the mentors I would be even worse than I am now! Being safe to talk about my struggles let me learn how to react in a more suitable way inside and outside of school. Growing up I struggled and if it wasn't for the fact I had someone in school I may never have spoken about it.

Mentoring has helped me in my life not just in school but outside of school. They have helped me control my anger and get out of a dark place and they make me happy every time I see them.

Our sessions are so beneficial to us because it creates a safe area for us to talk about our problems and struggles without the fear of them getting spread. The mentoring room has always been a room that is respected and cared for by the students. Having a place that allowed me to talk about my struggles which then led me to feel calm enough to carry on coming to Impact. Taking into consideration that Impact is a behaviour school many of the students' behaviour stems from their struggles whether it's a disability, relationships, family or their environment. Having a place to talk means that students do just that and it keeps them safe and happy.
